# Upgrading to v2

The v2 API is the default for new accounts. Existing integrations keep working on v1 until
you switch them over; this page is the checklist we use with customers.

## Before you switch

- Create a v2 key under **Settings → API keys** and keep the v1 key until you finish.
- Make sure your handler reads `amountCents`, not `amount`.
- Read the signature header by key and ignore keys you do not recognise.

## Switching

1. Swap the key in one environment at a time.
2. Watch the deliveries view for an hour; exhausted deliveries mean something is off.
3. Remove the v1 key once every environment is on v2.
